‘With the Wild’ at Higher Barn Farm
Co-director of ‘With the Wild CIC’ Cerys Dehaini talks about sustainable farming projects at Higher Barn Farm in the video below.
The ‘With the Wild’ mission is to create a diverse and thriving ecosystem, brimming with wildlife and abundant food, to be shared with the local community.
With support from Exmoor National Park Authority and the Farming in Protected Landscapes programme, we’re making significant strides in that mission. The farm boasts a range of ecological food producing systems, from ‘no dig’ market garden vegetable plots to a bustling orchard filled with contented hens and geese. Agroforestry practices are abundant, with newly planted trees serving varied functions, from providing habitats and boundaries to fostering symbiotic relationships with livestock, soil fungi and pollinators. The farm’s aesthetic is as beautiful as it is useful, with meticulously designed spaces and natural elements seamlessly integrated into the landscape.
Talks on agroforestry principles and farm tours are helping us engage with the community and share our vision.
As the effects of climate change loom large, regenerative farmers play a crucial role in creating resilient local food systems while safeguarding our natural and cultural heritage. Their efforts offer a beacon of hope for a sustainable future, where communities thrive in harmony with nature.
