Bio
I am an ageing but still reasonably active farmer living just outside the Park but farming,in partnership with my son Matt and his wife Jenny who is a veterinarian ,each side of the boundary on the southern ridge in Devon.
I have been interested in Park politics for all of my adult years and have served on various fora, panels and committees in that time. I was honoured and delighted to be elected earlier this year by the parish councils of Exmoor as one of their representatives on the Authority, not least as I was a founding member of the the Exmoor Peoples organisation which lobbied from the 1970s for locally elected members to represent those who live and work in the National Park.
I have been a Parish Councillor for many years and served as a Trustee on various charities. I am currently chairman of SIG Ltd, a group of farmers producing Exlana Sheep a wool shedding low environmental impact composite breed.
Living and working on Exmoor is obviously a privilege, the views from Two Barrows must be some of the best in the world and the people are a special breed.
Sharing this amazing place with others is a pleasure and ENPA are central to managing and encouraging the visitors who come while supporting our local community.
I look forward to working with others in forwarding the purposes of the park and protecting the interests of the people who live and work here.
