Bio

I’ve lived on Exmoor for nearly 40 years and have raised three children here. So I understand some of the complex basket of difficulties faced by others that live in our remote, beautiful and very special area. Our local economy could be stronger, the transport links are very poor, and our young people tend to move away - only one of mine live and work here.

I’ve been a member of ENPA since 2015 and am lucky enough to currently Chair the Standards Committee. My membership of the Park Authority is due to my nomination by North Devon Council (NDC) where I sit as a member of the Independent group. Before I retired in 2014 most of my career was spent working for NDC in a number of different roles. As a result I’m very well aware of the strengths of and challenges faced by local government, including ENPA, having seen them both as an employee and as a member. I do my best to use my knowledge and experience to help achieve the National Park’s purposes, which is especially challenging when done against a background of continual reductions in financial support from central government.
