Meadow Making and Wildlife Spotting at Tarr Steps

Part of the National Parks UK's Big Volunteering Weekend 2024.

Take part in traditional meadow management activities to help improve the biodiversity of a meadow, near Tarr Steps on Exmoor. Discover how to spot local wildlife species living around the meadow and look for signs of dormice activity in the near-by woods.

Activities include traditional scything and raking cut grass, plus an introduction to wildlife ID.
Dates available: Wed 18th Sept (Scything) & Fri 20th Sept. (scything, raking and wildlife ID)

No experience necessary - training given on the day.
A resonable level of fitness is required.

What do I need to bring?
Bring a packed lunch and drink.
Wear stout footwear and appropriate outdoor clothing.
All other equipment needed will be provided.

Where do we meet on the day?
Meet at Tarr Steps car park (meet here).
You will be provided with a parking permit on arrival.
From the car park it is a 30 minute stroll to site.
