Publication Draft Local Plan
The Local Plan Publication Draft is available for public consultation: 15th June - 31st July 2015 (NOW CLOSED)
Consultation in accordance with Regulation 19: Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 (Consultation Letter).
The Exmoor National Park Local Plan has reached the “Publication” stage, following which it will be submitted to the Sectary of State for Examination. Once adopted, the Local Plan will replace the saved policies of the Exmoor National Park Local Plan 2001-2011 (adopted March 2005).
Have Your Say
The Authority invites you to have your say on the Publication Draft Exmoor National Park Local Plan. In commenting on the Local Plan the emphasis should be on whether the Local Plan is "sound" and "legally compliant". Soundness means having regard to whether: it has been positively prepared, it is justified, effective and consistent with national policy. Legal compliance and the Duty to Cooperate will additionally be areas where comments should be focused.
Please note that comments previously made on the Draft Exmoor National Park Local Pan (November 2013) that are considered not to have been addressed adequately through amendments to the plan would need to be resubmitted for the current stage of consultation if still relevant.
Formal public consultation, which must be at least 6 weeks, starts on 15th June 2015 and your comments must arrive no later than 4pm on Friday 31st July 2015.

The Local Plan is supported by a 'Sustainability Appraisal' that explains how the policies have evolved and the rationale for them, and a Habitats Regulations Assessment that assesses whether the Plan is likely to have a significant effect on European sites for nature conservation. We have also published background documents, consultation feedback and technical studies. Comments on any of these supporting documents should be submitted using the response forms and these comments should clearly state which document they relate to.
Concurrent Consultation
In addition to the consultation on the Publication Draft Local Plan, there is a concurrent consultation for the Draft Statement of Community Involvement 2015. Comments can be made using the same response form.
Further information about the new Local Plan, including the comprehensive Evidence Base are available using the links provided. The full range of consultation documents including the Policies Map, Consultation Statement and Duty-to-Cooperate Statement are available to view below. Please note some files are large and download times may vary.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MAJORITY OF SETTLEMENT INSET MAPS CAN BE FOUND WITHIN THE PUBLICATION DRAFT LOCAL PLAN (SEE SECTION 10) UNLESS THEY ARE LISTED SEPARATELY BELOW
Consultation Responses
The responses in the schedule are set out in respondent order (not in order of the plan) so all the comments made by an individual or organisation are listed collectively.

The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) sets out that decision-takers may give weight to relevant policies in emerging plans according to their stage of preparation, the extent to which there are unresolved objections to relevant policies, and their degree of consistency with policies in the NPPF. This schedule provides an indication of the weight that may be attributed to policies in the Publication Draft Local Plan. Applicants and/or their agents are advised to seek pre-application advice in relation to proposals that are reliant on a policy approach within the Publication Draft Local Plan.
